GRADUATE COLLECTION
The collection Motion stemmed from investigation into the impact of comfort objects on children’s contentment. I discovered that many individuals do not grow out of childhood comfort objects, but rather they feel it is no longer socially acceptable for them to be carrying round a stuffed teddy or blanket once they enter adulthood. My research confirmed that these objects can have a positive effect on our wellbeing and that, as adults we still experience strange and unusual situations day after day where nerves and anxiety can be controlled by objects of comfort.
Creating wearables that provide comfort through interaction, touch and movement allows the objects to be easily transportable and equally discreet. ‘Motion’ allows for an escape through interaction by means of twisting, spinning and moving balls held within tubing using the magnetic ring.
